Wireless Security
Technology & Methodology & PCI 11.1

Wireless Network Security Protects Your Business

With the increased reliance on wireless networks, businesses are becoming more concerned about wireless network security. Network managers need to provide end users with freedom and mobility while ensuring the integrity of corporate information and systems.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance

Regulatory compliance has emerged as a primary reason for tightening information and network security controls. Both wired and wireless network security are critical for publicly traded companies and companies in the healthcare and retail industries, in particular, which need to secure sensitive customer and financial data to ensure compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and PCI. Learn more about retail regulatory requirements and how to implement PCI compliance in your wireless network.

PCI StandardsCompliance

Any organization that "stores, transmits, or processes" credit card data is subject to the PCI Standards.  The PCI Standard states in section 11.1 that annual reviews of the wireless networks must be conducted to ensure compliance with the standards. In addition, quarterly "wireless analyzer" scans must be done to determine all devices connected in the wireless network.

Net Compliance Solutions has extended its professional services capability to provide the ability to conduct quarterly wireless network scans and to implement comprehensive wireless intrusion protection sysytems (WIPS).

NCS extends its vulnerability management solutions and pro-active security services to include Wireless Network Scans and the implementation of Wireless Intrusion Protection Systems (WIPS)

Wireless Threats

There are four key threat categories:

UN-OFFICIAL ACCESS POINTS attached to your enterprise network create back-doors through which unauthorized users can gain access to enterprise network putting all sensitive data assets at huge risk.

MIS-CONFIGURED AUTHORIZED APs and clients can also create back-doors through which unauthorized users can gain access to enterprise network.

DENIAL-OF-SERVICE ATTACKS by intruders disrupting Operation of official WLAN network..

ACCIDENTAL ATTACHMENT OF WLAN CLIENTS to neighbor’s network, putting enterprise sensitive data at risk.
